BUSINESS INSURANCE • BURNLEY & BEYOND

Contractors Insurance.
Cover that starts
with your trade.

Your work can take you from a customer’s home to a busy building site. We help contractors and tradespeople discuss liability, tools, plant and work in progress, with attention to the jobs they actually undertake.

Start with a conversation.

Tell us what your business does, what has changed and when you need cover.

Call 01282 348494 or use the quote link to contact our team.

Each job has its own moving parts.

Tell us your main trade, the other work you accept and how you organise each project. Height, depth, heat work, subcontracting and work on existing structures can all be important. Our Burnley-based team welcomes enquiries from contractors across Lancashire and further afield.

Cover options to discuss

Liability on and off site

Discuss public and employers’ liability alongside the people you engage and the work you carry out. Contract requirements should be checked before a project begins.

Tools and plant

Identify your own tools and equipment separately from hired-in plant. Ask about theft, overnight storage, security conditions and the amounts that can be insured.

Contract works

Raise the value and duration of work in progress, including materials on site. Cover for the works should not be confused with insurance for the existing building.

Starting a refurbishment in an occupied building?

Clarify who is responsible for insuring the existing structure, the new works and any materials. Tell us whether the customer remains in occupation, whether you are using heat and what the contract requires. Arrange the insurance discussion before site preparation or work starts.

Prepare for your quote

  • All trades undertaken and the split between types of work.
  • Largest contract value, typical project duration and site locations.
  • Employees, subcontracting arrangements and annual turnover.
  • Tool and plant values, storage arrangements and hire obligations.

Your questions, answered

Are tools left in a van covered overnight?

That depends on the selected cover and its theft and security conditions. Tell us where the vehicle and tools are kept, and check any overnight exclusions or limits.

Does contract works cover the building I am altering?

Not automatically. The existing structure and the new works are separate questions. Tell us who owns the building and how insurance responsibilities are allocated.

Can you discuss cover for a sole trader?

Yes. Explain your trade, the jobs you accept, the people who assist you and the equipment you use. We can explore available terms for your circumstances.
